Australian modification guide

Finding a modifier, tinter or engineer

The old directory named businesses. This page names registers. Search the scheme your state publishes.

Direct answer

Do not use a scraped business list to pick a signatory. Use the register your registration authority publishes for its scheme, then send that person the pack described in getting engineer sign-off. The historic automotive directory on this domain listed shops. We do not republish those names.

Official starting points

  • The modification or vehicle-standards page for your state, linked from state rules.
  • The signatory or approved-person search that page points to.
  • For tint, the tinter who will write the film specification on the invoice and cite the current state sheet.

Choosing a modifier or engineer. Check with your state regulator if you cannot find the current register.

Check the rule before you buy the part

If a change affects structure, emissions, lighting, tyres or the vehicle description on the register, stop and read VSB 14 plus your state agency. We can point you at the primary page — we cannot sign the car off.
